It’s the middle of summer and I’m craving bright and fun colors. I was looking through Instragram looking at different styles and techniques, and I realized I’ve never done a Ruffian mani. A Ruffian mani is, I guess you can call it, a reverse french manicure. The execution is very easy and you don’t need any nail art tools (although some people use a nail sticker I prefer doing it by freehand)! You can mix and match the colors as much as you like, but I give you my version of a Summer Ruffian Manicure;Summer Ruffian Manicure

Summer Ruffian ManicureI really love Where Did Suzi’s Man-go? from the Spring/Summer Collection of 2014, it’s so bright and yummi, and with the black backdrop it really pops!
I started with a black base that covered the entire nail, and topped that off with two coats of the orange starting about 3mm from the edge, leaving the black “frame”. Lacquerized has a great tutorial if you need some help creating the Ruffian, check that out here.

I hope you like it (this one got some mixed reviews in real life)!

What’s your technique for the Ruffian?
